Discoveries are the debut studio album by Australian heavy metal band Northlane and adopt a progressive metal sound.

Within the album 41 minute run time, low harsh vocals intertwine perfectly with the breakdowns and riffs breathing a breath of fresh air into the genre's sound. The higher vocals performed by then-lead singer Adrian Fitipaldes portray a sense of despair or pain, which adds variations of depth and emotion to these tracks.

The musicianship showcased on the album makes it clear to fans that the band understands the genre. Filthy breakdowns, hypnotic drums, and mind numbing bass make this album an infectious and addictive experience.
