California hardcore band Torena announce their upcoming album, No Control, set for release on October 4th through DAZE. Following 2023’s Evil Eyez EP and 2021’s Cerebellum Prison LP, the eight songs on the record find Torena continuing to bolster themselves as a need to know band in heavy music. It’s their most angry and rapid output yet, assisted by Taylor Young at Studio 606 and The Pit who recorded and mixed the LP, with mastering by Nick Townsend at Infrasonic Sound.

As a result, they return with a poignant body of work that captures a distinctly universal phenomenon - spiraling - and getting caught in the emotional debris of the words, emotions, memories, and pain that are left after things are flipped upside down.

2024 will be the year that sees Trail of Lies at its most aggressive and erudite. Only the Strong, the title of their forthcoming sophomore full- length record, as well as their revitalized mantra, will see the band occupy a space all their own. A prioritization of feeling over technicality, the band's newest LP serves as a reminder and a lesson to all, as to just who they have always been as a musical tribe.

The hardcore quintet, forged in Syracuse, New York, has doubled down on its mission to write music that speaks to the primal rage, disgust, and disillusion, we all feel today. Trail of Lies has always, but even more so on this newest creative offering, tapped into the twisted ideals and behaviors that serve as the perverse benchmark for our modern world: obsession with fast and gluttonous consumerism, erosion of human empathy, and a widespread cultural embrace of conflict avoidance. The guttural cries of "only the strong survive" from vocalist Tom Damiano in the title track, is not a celebration of physical domination over the weak, but a reimagining of what it means to really be strong. Only the Strong, is a record that will sonically challenge and remind listeners both new and old that, "the pain you feel today will be the strength that you feel tomorrow."

An invitation to reconnect and redefine the word strength, Trail of Lies intends to spread Only the Strong's mission, message, and mantra around the world in 2024 and beyond. "Will you fight or will you fall?"

Turnover first emerged roughly a decade ago in Virginia Beach, VA, but the group's critical and commercial breakthrough didn't arrive until six years later, when they cracked the Top 5 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart with their acclaimed sophomore album, 'Peripheral Vision.' 

'Altogether' demonstrates the band's eclectic mix of personalities from the very start, opening with a lo-fi, jazzy intro that quickly gives way to the driving drums and delay-drenched guitar of "Still In Motion." Like much of the album to come, the song is a meditation on change and perspective, on learning to quiet your mind and appreciate the moment before it's gone. The bittersweet "No Reply" reckons with guilt over failing to be present with a loved one, while the effervescent "Much After Feeling" recognizes the sacrifices we make to stay connected across geographical distance, and the breezy "Parties" grapples with the kind of self-consciousness that can leave us prisoners of our own design.
