Nobody could have ever guessed the trajectory that hardcore would have taken back when this movement was first formed. And in the early 2000s, nobody would have guessed that a band like TERROR would still be one of the most influential bands in the subgenre, 24 years after their start. Their aggression, coupled with a love and appreciation for the scene that so many have come and gone from, or even forgotten altogether, has let them thrive- now unveiling their tenth full length record, STILL SUFFER, releasing April 24th on Flatspot Records.

Originating from Los Angeles, California, during a time when hardcore needed a band to smash things back to center as the genre found itself falling off track, TERROR rushed in, immediately made their mark and never let go.

Working with producer (and former guitarist) Todd Jones, the band created ten fast, aggressive, in-your-face tracks that embrace the themes that made TERROR so influential in the first place. Songs about self empowerment, survival and an unrelenting will to face challenges head on with the values and support found within these walls.

STILL SUFFER was rounded out with engineering and some additional production by Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio, mixing by Jon Markson, and mastering by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, with additional vocal engineering by Jay Zubricky at GCR Audio, and drum engineering at Studio 606 by Taylor Young and Oliver Roman. Guest vocals on the album come from Jay Peta of Mindforce on "Beauty in the Losses," Brody King of God's Hate and Dan Seely of King Nine on "Deconstruct It," along with Hot Water Music's Chuck Ragan providing an assertive delivery on "Fear The Panic," a song which was also co-produced by New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert.

From the start, TERROR has never turned their back on the things that made this band so vital since its inception. With the release of STILL SUFFER, it's clear that the band has no sign of letting up, continuing to succeed on their mission to deliver hardcore authentic to themselves and to show the world that this is much more than just music. This community and movement that nobody can truly put into words, is the exact place the energy comes from that fuels TERROR to continue to build and grow with STILL SUFFER.

The Chain have come back swinging with another one. Hidden away in the isolated piece of the country often referred to as Planet Perth, The Chain have been on a steady incline, establishing themselves as one of the standouts of Australian hardcore's current pack. Recorded in mid 2020 when Perth began to return to some sense of normality and indadvertedly became the hardcore capital of the world, the new self-titled 7" finds The Chain at their most unhinged. It takes serious talent to write and sing songs that sound angry while the music lifts your spirits. So much of political punk is abrasive and unpleasant. No hooks. No melodies. But other times the words sound incongruent with emotionless and insipid music. The Iron Roses manage something rare and commanding with music that lifts the heart coupled powerfully with lyrics that express fury and resentment of the current world. Punk as a genre has been so commodified and diluted over the last decades that it seems to be ever increasingly hard to find bands that resonate this way. That sing and play with such intensity that their authenticity cannot be questioned. That prove that true punk is alive and well and can have you dancing around your kitchen singing along at the top of your voice.

Yes, we can discuss their pedigree, most notably their frontperson Nathan Gray (of Boysetsfire), and their relentless touring and political activism. But none of those things matter if the songs don’t connect with the listener. And this collection of songs are going to do just that. From the opening notes of the first song the cards are on the table. The objective is clear – The Iron Roses are putting to words and music all the thoughts you’ve had these last few dark years. With the worldwide political climate leaning further and further from the left. With rights for many being limited and destroyed. With no end in sight. We need bands like The Iron Roses giving us a soundtrack to fight. Songs to pour our anger and frustration into when we sing along - just as they did when they wrote and recorded them.

The beauty of seeing these six individuals singing their truth is astounding. Watching them grow from strength to strength in the last few years it is unsurprising that this record is the outcome. They, and their songs, represent such power, love, and passion – something that we need more than ever in this world today.

Out of Baltimore, Maryland comes The S.E.T. who are crafting 100% unapologetic hardcore music. Formed between bassist Che (founder of Flatspot Records), guitarist Brady (formerly of Turnstile), and drummer Ryan (formerly of End It), the band started through jam sessions in early 2024. Before they knew it, they had instrumentals for seven songs written and were ready to put lyrics to the tracks, and the search for a vocalist began. Che spotted Tim hopping on stage and grabbing the microphone at Disturbin’ The Peace Festival, invited him to try out for vocalist, and The S.E.T. was then complete.

The S.E.T. will release their debut Self Evident Truth EP, on March 6th through Flatspot Records. It’s 15 minutes of fury and groove, taking cues from Baltimore acts such as Gut Instinct (whose Sebastian Gorgone features on “White Lies”) and Stout and the crossover sounds of New York like Leeway and Judge. Recorded and mixed by Justin Day at New Noise Recording and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, the tracks roar with thick bass lines, fast-paced drums, and rage fueled vocals. Lyrics come from a place of candor, expressing the basis of equal rights and defying the propaganda the current administration is spewing.

Brady shares, “In the Declaration of Independence the two self evident truths were that all people are created equal, and that everyone has the right to pursue happiness. Unfortunately, the powers that be have forgotten that and are trying to deny us normal working class citizens those truths, and we can’t let that happen.” And Time echoes, “We live in a society, especially now with this current administration, where the people up top try to defy the truth through propaganda, war, racism and all forms of authoritarian ideas. I wanted this release to define what we are and what we believe the truth is.”

As The S.E.T. comes into fruition, the band wants to exist as a place to put words to action and come together as a community through both their music and live shows.

Balance and Composure and Tigers Jaw's Iconic 2011 split 12" is an important time capsule for both bands. These eight songs capture the energy of an entire music scene cultivated in Pennsylvania with among peer bands like Title Fight, Daylight/Superheaven and The Menzingers. The bouncy intro of Balance and Composure's opener "Kaleidoscope" sets an immediate tone that carries out through their four songs, ending with the spacey fan-favorite "Rope." Fans of Tigers Jaw may recognize most of the songs on their side of the split from other earlier releases like "Belongs to the Dead." On these tracks, a full-band backing brings those once-scarce songs new life, like on the heavily Twin Peaks-influenced "Lodging" or the saccharine singalong "Jet Alone".

This release has been fully updated with new packaging, including new forest-green cover art and a printed inner sleeve designed by Tigers Jaw's Brianna Collins.

Following 2023’s Evil Eyez EP and 2021’s Cerebellum Prison LP, the eight songs on the record find Torena continuing to bolster themselves as a need to know band in heavy music. The hardcore quintet, forged in Syracuse, New York, has doubled down on its mission to write music that speaks to the primal rage, disgust, and disillusion, we all feel today. Trail of Lies has always, but even more so on this newest creative offering, tapped into the twisted ideals and behaviors that serve as the perverse benchmark for our modern world: obsession with fast and gluttonous consumerism, erosion of human empathy, and a widespread cultural embrace of conflict avoidance. The guttural cries of "only the strong survive" from vocalist Tom Damiano in the title track, is not a celebration of physical domination over the weak, but a reimagining of what it means to really be strong. Only the Strong, is a record that will sonically challenge and remind listeners both new and old that, "the pain you feel today will be the strength that you feel tomorrow."

Truck Violence's second full length record, The weathervane is my body, is an attempt to answer, an attempt at conciliation through refusal.

Karsyn Henderson and Paul Lecours grew up in a French Canadian town of 600 people, graduating in a class of nine. By fifteen they were running a local studio and radio station. There was no industry support, no infrastructure, no template for what they were trying to do, only the work itself and the conviction that it was worth doing.

At seventeen they relocated to Montreal, joined by Chris Clegg and Thomas Hart, assembled from different corners of the country, and began building Truck Violence from the ground up. The weathervane is my body, the band's second full-length record and first with San Francisco's The Flenser, is the product of that process. Every element reflects this. The group composition, the recording, the mixing and the visual media were all produced in house without outside intervention. DIY here is not an aesthetic choice or a marketing angle, it is the only honest option available.

The album cover was shot on film by the band on Avenue du Parc in Montreal. A figure perches atop a small Quebecois-style house, handbuilt from reclaimed materials, spine curved, legs pulled in, bare-backed against a skyline that dwarfs everything beneath it. A rural thing dropped into the grit of the city, small and out of place and refusing to disappear. The body is naked and defenseless, open to every stimulus the world cares to deliver. This is the album in a single image.

The weathervane is my body is a continuation, an expansion, a further scribbling together of that angry statement of purpose that is their debut album, aptly titled Violence. Rooted in the noise rock and post-hardcore traditions, and steeped in a DIY ethic that runs deep in Canadian underground culture, the record is uncompromising in its refusal to be anything other than what it is: immediate, self-determined, and built entirely by the hands that imagined it.
