Glitterer, the Washington, D.C., post-hardcore band, has a new record called erer. But after attempting to pronounce that quasi-eponymous title, and upon noticing that the 12” is out on a label called Purple Circle, you’ll probably just start referring to it—in your head, out loud to your friends—as the purple one.

The new record, this purple “erer” one, is the most ear-pleasing yet, also the most ambitious. Performed by a revamped lineup —drummer Robin Zeijlon and guitarist Colin Gorman came on board last year, joining Ned Russin (Title Fight) and keyboardist Nicole Dao—and recorded by the prolific producer/engineer Arthur Rizk, who has worked on every Glitterer record since 2019, Glitterererer boasts a thunderous Albini boom, a stereo spectrum that feels 10 miles wide, with floating and darting keyboard lines, impossibly sturdy-yet-subtle drumming, and soaring multi-tracked guitar leads.

Offering fuzzy grunge-pop with doses of shimmering synths and emo angst, Ned Russin co-fronted Title Fight before halting in 2018 & Ned began playing music as Glitterer. Now a full band, Glitterer returns with Rationale combining 90s grunge, capital-R riffs a la The Stooges, & a keyboard lead that gives self-depre- cating melodrama., After relying more on synths for the entirely solo, home-recorded Glitterer LP in 2017, he involved collabora- tors on the crunchier Looking Through the Shades in 2019. This trend toward driving indie rock grit with '90s influences contin- ued on 2021's Life Is Not a Lesson and now Rationale.

Boorloo/Perth post-shoegaze four-piece Gloam return with In Spite Of Never Ending, out Friday 17 July via Last Ride Records. Recorded with Cameron Murphy at Opaque Audio, the four-track EP is the band's most focused and self-assured work to date, pushing their blend of atmospheric guitars and heavy walls of sound toward something brighter and more deliberate.

The record is about holding your ground. Knowing what you stand for, deciding what makes a good person, and staying with it even when everything around you pulls the other way. There's a quiet euphoria running through it, not in escape but in clarity, the kind that comes from choosing conviction over comfort.

Following 2024's Well Dwelling and a run of stages shared with Superheaven, Touché Amoré, Citizen, Movements, Fleshwater, Scowl and Militarie Gun, In Spite Of Never Ending finds Gloam stepping into a bolder chapter without shedding the weight that shaped them.

Track Listing:

1. Tunnel To Our Bliss
2. Never Ending
3. Smothered, Not Seen

T-SHIRT GRAHAM BONNET - Classic Smokin' - Aussie Tour Shirt from the 2019 Hardline Media GRAHAM BONNET with ALCATRAZZ tour

Pushing every boundary to a breaking point, GRIDIRON will go to any extreme and then some. They follow quite possibly the most unpredictable playbook in the game. The band might flood the zone with a corpsepaint-smearing death metal barrage only to double back around for a victory lap narrated by blinged-out and braggadocios bars. Their hybridization of metal, hardcore, and hip-hop wouldn’t be out of place at either OZZfest 1997 or Rolling Loud 2027.

It’s why the quintet—Matthew Karll [vocals], Will Kaelin [guitar, vocals], Xavier Wilson [guitar], Lennon Livesay [bass], and Tyler Mullen [drums]—have bulldozed their own path as a phenomenon with millions of streams and acclaim from Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, NO ECHO, and more. GRIDIRON was born out of a series of COVID-era marathon Call of Duty sessions, which led to writing and recording together. Their musical pedigree spoke for itself with Will also in Never Ending Game, Xavier in Simulakra, and Tyler and Lennon in Scarab. Given their individual experiences, the guys instantly locked into a creative groove. Following the Loyalty At All Costs EP [2020] and Worldwide Brotherhood EP [2021], they dropped their first full-length, No Good At Goodbyes [2022]. The title track reeled in over 851K Spotify streams followed by '25-8' with 560K Spotify streams.

Along the way, they also shared stages with everyone from Missing Link to Trapped Under Ice. Now, GRIDIRON continue to smash through walls on their second full-length offering and Blue Grape Music debut, Poetry From Pain.

Half Man return with "I Can See God", their first full-length release following the 2023 EP "Man Proposes, But God Disposes". Produced by Elliot Gallart at Chameleon Studios (Speed, Primitive Blast), the record delivers 11 tracks in just 16 minutes. It’s fast, aggressive, and unrelenting.

Drawing from a mix of classic hardcore, powerviolence, and death metal, the record pulls influence from bands like Mindsnare and Cold As Life, alongside the anger of Dead In The Dirt and Weekend Nachos, with the intensity of Sepultura and Dying Fetus. The result is a blend of indignant lyrics, d-beats, blasts, and hammering guitars.

Hands Of God returns after months of touring to deliver a two-song promo tape via Flatspot Records. The two tracks feature a healthy dose of death-metal riffage interspersed with the heavy, metallic hardcore assault that the band has become known for. Lyrically, vocalist Jeffrey Wang tackles pertinent social themes like mob justice, character assassination, and mutually assured destruction. Cassette includes digital download.
