Raw Brigade

The fourth volume of The Extermination showcase a wide range of hardcore stylings, from metallic to punk-leaning. Contributions come from End It, Buggin, Jivebomb, Section H8, The Chisel, and Spy, just to name a few. Started in 2012, The Extermination series has previously featured early tracks from notable artists such as Turnstile, Terror, Power Trip, Cruel Hand, and King Nine across its first three volumes.

Speaking more on the compilation’s message and history, Che and Ricky expand:

“This compilation was started to provide a snapshot of the current state of hardcore. Every song is exclusive to the series, and we love to see bands take pride in giving us some of their best songs for this compilation. With Volume 4, we present the next wave of hardcore from our perspective. For this volume, every single band gave 110% raw power and pure energy. This is a true representation of hardcore in its purest form.”

100% Hardcore. 100% Straight Edge. 100% Latino. Colombian hardcore band Raw Brigade are stating exactly who they are with their new album 100% out Fall 2025 on Flatspot Records.

The band’s story starts in 2016 in Bogotá, Colombia as friends working at a tattoo shop who put together a Youth Of Today cover band for a one off show. After playing together, they figured why not just be a band, and Raw Brigade was formed. The band dropped a demo that year and followed it up with 2018’s Kicking Your Face EP which began garnering them attention on an international scale. 2021 saw the release of the Hardcore Latino EP and Raw Brigade’s first full-length came in 2022 with Aggressive City. With an arsenal of music, the band’s high energy live show went from South and North America to Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia, and they’ll hit the road this fall on shows with Agnostic Front and End It.

Always having a mix of English and Spanish vocals in their tracks, when it came time to record 100% it morphed into recording two versions of the record, one in English and one in Spanish. Vocalist Carlos Chavarriaga wrote and produced it with the help of Avery Field and Connors Jones, recording with Jon Markson at The Animal Farm in New Jersey and Santiago Gonzalez at Sepia Studio in Bogotá, and Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. The eleven tracks burst with aggression through furious vocals, fast-paced riffs, and plenty of two-step mosh parts. Influence from NYHC bands like Outburst and Warzone seeps through, while lyrics tackle everything from straight edge pride to addressing those who are treated unjust from corrupt systems.

On crafting the album Carlos shares:
“We always try to have a general theme for each release, the last one was for our city Bogota and for our experience of being immigrants in another country, the one before that was mostly a Latino pride record. On this one we decide to create a compilation of what we are as people and as a band that’s why the name is 100%. We are a straight edge old-school style hardcore punk band from Colombia/ Latinoamerica influenced by New York Hardcore bands from the 80’s. Lyrics cover everything from political to personal experience as Latinos and as Straight Edge people.”
