100 Words or Less: Interviews from Independent Culture (Book 1) collects twenty of the podcast's most memorable conversations in print for the first time. Featuring interviews with Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, AFI, Quicksand, American Football, Terror, Have Heart, Scowl, Lucero, Snapcase, Chelsea Wolfe, Hanif Abdurraqib, Dan Carlin, Roman Mars, and many more, the book explores creativity, longevity, community, and the values that continue to define independent culture.

More than a collection of interviews, this volume serves as a snapshot of a creative community told in its own words. Through honest conversations and shared experiences, host Ray Harkins documents not only the artists themselves, but the ideas, relationships, and DIY spirit that have connected generations of musicians and fans.
Published by Iodine Recordings, this first volume is presented as a 300+ page softcover edition featuring a soft-touch cover with French flaps and premium interior paper, designed to be both a lasting document and an essential addition to any music library.

Nobody could have ever guessed the trajectory that hardcore would have taken back when this movement was first formed. And in the early 2000s, nobody would have guessed that a band like TERROR would still be one of the most influential bands in the subgenre, 24 years after their start. Their aggression, coupled with a love and appreciation for the scene that so many have come and gone from, or even forgotten altogether, has let them thrive- now unveiling their tenth full length record, STILL SUFFER, releasing April 24th on Flatspot Records.

Originating from Los Angeles, California, during a time when hardcore needed a band to smash things back to center as the genre found itself falling off track, TERROR rushed in, immediately made their mark and never let go.

Working with producer (and former guitarist) Todd Jones, the band created ten fast, aggressive, in-your-face tracks that embrace the themes that made TERROR so influential in the first place. Songs about self empowerment, survival and an unrelenting will to face challenges head on with the values and support found within these walls.

STILL SUFFER was rounded out with engineering and some additional production by Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio, mixing by Jon Markson, and mastering by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, with additional vocal engineering by Jay Zubricky at GCR Audio, and drum engineering at Studio 606 by Taylor Young and Oliver Roman. Guest vocals on the album come from Jay Peta of Mindforce on "Beauty in the Losses," Brody King of God's Hate and Dan Seely of King Nine on "Deconstruct It," along with Hot Water Music's Chuck Ragan providing an assertive delivery on "Fear The Panic," a song which was also co-produced by New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert.

From the start, TERROR has never turned their back on the things that made this band so vital since its inception. With the release of STILL SUFFER, it's clear that the band has no sign of letting up, continuing to succeed on their mission to deliver hardcore authentic to themselves and to show the world that this is much more than just music. This community and movement that nobody can truly put into words, is the exact place the energy comes from that fuels TERROR to continue to build and grow with STILL SUFFER.

Produced by Citizen’s Mat Kerekes and mixed by Taylor Young of The Pit Studio, I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye follows Haywire’s 2024 full-length album, CONDITIONED FOR DEMOLITION. Tracked between studios in Leeds, UK and Toledo, OH over a three month window, I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye includes appareances from members of NOTHING and The Aggrolites, as well as Aaron, Bruce and other friends of Haywire.

Haywire's rise has been meteoric since forming in late 2023 supported by the band’s nonstop touring, community-driven initiatives, and a prolific run of releases: CONDITIONED FOR DEMOLITION (LP, 2024), FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE (EP, 2025), Shirts Vs. Skins (Split with No Guard, 2025) and New England Forever (Split with Dropkick Murphys, 2026). Now signed to Roadrunner Records, Haywire continue their mission of bringing their music to as many people as possible with their second full-length, I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye.

San Diego’s Mizery are a defiant powerhouse ready to shake things up with their crossover hardcore sound.

Originally breaking out with 2014’s Survive The Vibe EP followed by 2016 full-length Absolute Light (Flatspot Records), Mizery quickly grabbed attention with their groove-driven rhythms and dynamic live show. Formed as an idea by childhood friends Jose Luna (vocals) and Taylor Parker (lead guitar), things really came to fruition when the pair met drummer Cayle Sain and soon enlisted Miguel “Mikey” Salazar on bass and began creating as a four-piece. Following the album release, Mizery toured alongside genre heavyweights including Power Trip, Terror, and Backtrack, and added Ahmad Ali on bass, moving Mikey to rhythm guitar. Like the rest of the world, the band stalled during the pandemic, but kept writing and were ready to come back with full momentum. In December 2023 the unexpected passing of drummer Cayle Sain, who also performed with Twitching Tongues, God’s Hate, and GhosteMane, rattled the music community and understandably put a pause on Mizery.

While processing their grief and reflecting, the members of Mizery knew they had to continue on and a found recording gave them a new sense of purpose. Jose and Taylor discovered Cayle had taken pre-production demos they had sent him and he tracked drums for them in a professional studio. With the help of producer Taylor Young (The Pit), the band was able to obtain these drum tracks and use them for what would become their self-titled EP.

Due out March 20th, 2026 on Flatspot Records, the Mizery EP is an overtly political record built around renewal and reflection. Across the six tracks lyrics are utilized as a weapon, as Jose shares, “It’s a reflection of a world that some of us see, and others choose to ignore. The acts of violence, the fear of violence, & the repercussions of violence.”

The songs defy a steady route, mixing infectious rap-sung vocals with metallic riffs, inventive grooves, and a few twists. Influence stems from Leeway’s Adult Crash, Merauder’s 5 Deadly Venoms, and Only Living Witness’ Innocents combined with the output of Rage Against The Machine and P.O.D. that surrounded the band members as youths. From opener “Renegade Rhythm” it’s clear Mizery is standing on business, addressing the state of the world while making music built to stay in your head. “The Weapon PT.II” lives sonically as Mizery’s heaviest track on the EP while hitting back at using words to invoke change over physical violence. Closing out the EP is the vindicating “Eulogy” featuring guest vocals from DRAIN’s Sammy Ciaramitaro. The song came together as an early demo and was the only track Cayle had laid down programmed drums for instead of studio recordings. To complete the single, drummer David Stalsworth (Militarie Gun, Torena) stepped in on the recording and now joins Mizery as a member.

While some might look at the EP release as a triumph, for Mizery it’s showing of persistence and a band ready to enter its next era.
